چکیده

We reconsider MMSE-based time-domain equalizer (TEQ), bitrate maximizing TEQ and per-tone equalizer design for DMT transmission. It is shown that they can all be formulated either as a constrained linear or a separable nonlinear least-squares problem. These least-squares formulations are then turned into generalized eigenvalue problems that allow to establish a remarkably close relationship between these -at first sight very differentequalizer designs.

Rls-based Initialization for per Tone Equalizers in Dmt-receivers Rls-based Initialization for per Tone Equalizers in Dmt-receivers

Per tone equalization has been proposed in 6] 7] as an alternative to time domain equalization for DMT-based systems. In this paper, an iterative initialization scheme based on so-called RLS with inverse updating is presented for these equalizers. Simulation results show convergence with an acceptably small number of training symbols. Complexity calculations are made for per tone equalization a...

Noise optimized eigenfilter design of time-domain equalizers for DMT systems

The design of time-domain equalizers or TEQs for discrete multitone modulation (DMT) systems has recently received much attention. In this paper, we present a generalization of one such design method which takes into account the noise observed in a DMT channel. Furthermore, we show how this generalization can be used for the design of fractionally spaced equalizers or FSEs. Experimental results...

Per-Tone Equalization for Single Carrier Block Transmission with Insufficient Cyclic Prefix

This paper proposes per-tone equalization methods for single carrier block transmission with cyclic prefix (SC-CP) systems. Minimum mean-square-error (MMSE) based optimum weights of the per-tone equalizers are derived for SISO (single-input single-output), SIMO (single-input multipleoutput), and MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) SC-CP systems. Unlike conventional frequency domain equalizati...

On the Practical Aspects of Joint Passive Phase Conjugation and Equalization Underwater Communication Systems

Underwater acoustic communication systems suffer from the channel impairments which results in time spreading of the transmitted signal. In underwater environment, multiple replicas of the transmitted signal are received at the receiver through different paths, which causes significant Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI). Decision Feedback Equalizers (DFE) was utilized to overcome this type of inte...

Bitrate maximizing per group equalization for DMT-based systems

In a previous paper, we proposed a bitrate maximizing design criterion for time-domain equalizers (TEQ) in DMT transceivers to shorten the channel impulse response, as needed in, e.g., ADSL receivers. The proposed criterion truly maximizes the bitrate, as it is based on an exact formulation of the subchannel SNR as a function of the TEQ taps. In this paper, we show how the BM-TEQ design can be ...
